thats almost never the case. most is the awesomely detailed and in depth flash usually have better quality scripts than the clusterfuck retardedness you mention. dont change the truth.
I just check'd Brawl Taunt's reviews, and all reviews that had even little critsism were "Useless." Even my rant-review was weighted useless. And almost all 10's are given by 10-year old kids who think they are mature justr because they can use the internet. And i personally like this type of flashes that copy Egoraptor's style. I like it when Ego does it, because it's original then. But when other people do it, it's annoying. Whatever Kagome and Kirbopher15 said about "not copying Ego's style" They still copied it obviously. Personally, I enjoy flashes that are made with effort, and ironically, also the ones who are extremely crappy, just meant to piss people off.(I also make them just piss the 10-year olds off) They are 100 times funnier, than Brawl taunts. Anyways, im getting carried away. Can't wait for Pico's School the movie's next part,
And this is exactly why I didn't conform to the whole "One-liner reviews". I love making my reviews with somewhere between 3000 characters to 4096 characters.
It's obvious that the only reason why reviewers are giving these kinds of reviews is because they think they're too busy with something else to give a good review, (Although I can list a bunch of those so called "busy" things, I'm too lazy to do that right now) and what can we exactly do to stop it? Unless if the Newgrounds' staff decides to one day put a minimum character requirement feature in the reviews, it's virtually impossible to stop it. EVEN when they do actually do that requirement, the people who do the one-liner reviews will just end up spewing as much possible bullshit that they can possibly think of from their minds to make up for the minimum requirement characters.
Lets face the facts, unless if you have a cure for ADD, (A cure that most wouldn't mind taking FYI) you aren't going to stop these people from making useless, pointless reviews. It's just that simple. We're so damn crazy for new content, that most newgrounders don't have enough focus to concentrate all their power in their minds on one subject for too long.

This goes back to rtil's argument about gimmicks like internet popculture jokes being more highly praised then real hard work, to be honest that will never change because new kid idiots just replace the old ones, but hey if you can think of a reason that will change I'd love to hear it.
A well written story or a lot of gimmicks will always be more highly valued then technical skill, it's why there's over twice as many humour flashes compared to serious ones because it's much easier to grab the attention of the kids to early 20's market; I'm not talking about everyone of course I'm just talking about people overall.
Last time I checked over half the people who watch flash movies don't even leave reviews anyway, the difference between a good reviewer and a newb is they understand the kind of work that was involved, whereas everyone else is just thanking you for the free entertainment, the number just reflects how entertained they were. I dunno maybe people calling your review helpful/useless should have it's own level system indicating how good a reviewer is maybe?
its not always about the graphics, its more about what message its trying to transmit, either funny or serious... i dunno theres got to be a way to make people change here.

But some people go to the other extreme, such as voting very very low then randomly insulting something that they think has a too high score, rather than rating what they think the flash deserves, y'know, they don't give any particular reason...

I try only to give out 10s to movies that I plan to put on my Favorites... and movies that people I know have made. That's about it, though. I try to be as honest as I can with my review score.
Sometimes I give better movies slightly lower scores than movies that aren't as good because I forget what kinds of review score standards I've set... =(

Here's the lesson, if you're making flashes to be popular and get good reviews, just copy what everyone else is doing. If you're making flashes to have fun making flashes, then do whatever the hell you want.

Bleh i completly agree i went throught the top 50 of all time list recently and id say all but half a dozen didnt really deserve to be there.There use to be soo much better stuff on that list and now its just cluttered with mediocre stuff from recent times.I rarely vote 5s myself however im probably a bit too quick to give a 0 but this sort of problem isnt only on newgrounds the internet has kinda led to a mediocrity in the standards people hold :/

I'm easy to please when it comes to most internet movies but i didn't find brawl taunts funny at all. I haven't had the time to see the second one but I'm sure it's near enough the same 4-bit game style and Nintendo brawl humor that is aimed towards people with a wee ---- *wii* - (shows how much of an interest I have for new game consuls). I didn't find it funny but I suppose I would if I owned the game and played on it enough.
It did not meet with my high standards of entertainment (lol)

Nobody has any right to decide what is good and what is bad. Sure, Brawl Taunts may not be as well done visually and audially as, say, There she is!, but if someone likes Brawl Taunts more then it, then why should they not give it a better score? Not everyone is looking for a sesual masterpiece in their flashes. If you like quick chuckles and jokes based off of SSBB, and hate Japanese music, then SSBB is a better flash then There She Is! Some people don't care as much about certain things.
Although, I agree with the minimal one line review thing. I feel bad if I'm not a jerk in a review, and I'm wasting space.

Well i agree about leaving small reveiws but sum1 said sumthing about serious flashes witch get low scores and well:
1)Comedy flashes have a wider audience

What happened to the good old days? It seems a lot of people are noticing this trend too (like, just the other day I read another blog about this). We must be more critical, I mean personally Waterlollies is cool at the top of the portal for all time scoring but it only has 4.37 compared to lets say More Brawl Taunts 4.48. In fact, look at the top five for the week and the fact they all beat Waterlollies or any other animation out there.

It's because most people aren't offended by it. Do you know how many bitchy complaints I get about AFD when we kill Foamy? A shitload.
The only reason that people are rating so high on stupid shit is because it doesn't do anything new, they feel comfortable, in their "happy place", if you will.
Then you get something like AFD6 coming along that basicly takes them, kicks them in the mouth, and then shits on their mom's tits while peeing on their grandma. "Waaaaah! You killed Naruto! 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0!"
They won't even look at the fact that the animation was probably 10x better than Brawl Taunts. It's the fact that they just see one thing and then go 0 or 5.
If they hear one fart joke, they laugh and say, "man this is funny, 5!", without even looking at the big picture of the fact that this is a stupid 1-frame animation of a stick figure.
Do you know how fucked up it is when you get around 350 comments and all of them are "You guys are assholes!" or "Fuck yeah, you guys rule!!111!!" with the occasional real review? I mean, I like to know that we have fans, but I'd really like to know what you liked, what you didn't like, and how I can improve, not just that you think it's unfair that we shit on Foamy and Naruto and you can't handle satire because your balls haven't dropped yet.
I have all the respect in the world for Kirbopher15. he made Brawl Taunts as a joke. He told me he didn't expect it to be like this. He even told me that he doesn't fell that the score should be this high.
I dislike that the control is being thrown to the dogs with this, and I don't think that anyone upstairs really knows about it, even if we bitched a little this weekend.
